I’m not referring to the book by Jojo Moyes, but the dessert cafe in Bangkok!
The most enjoyable thing to do on any trip is to savour the local snacks and specialties! The folks at Thailand do eat a lot of unique food like fried bugs, or larb leuat neua, which is raw beef with uncooked blood, or even baak bpet (fried duck beaks)!
Other than traditional Thai food like the Tom Yum Goong, Pad Thai, Green Chicken Curry and Spicy Green Papaya Salad, I really love their desserts – both traditional and western kinds!
“After You Dessert Cafe” in Bangkok is my favourite for their Shibuya Honey Toast and Mille Crepe!
We were at Central World and saw that the queue for After You Dessert Cafe was quite short, so we hastened our pace to take a number and just had to wait for 15mins before our number was called and we were shown to our table 🙂
Shibuya Honey Toast at After You Dessert Cafe in Central World, Bangkok, Thailand (14 December 2015)
The Shibuya Honey Toast smells fragrant and is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! The butter is very well infused into the toast, making it very rich and flavourful. Actually, the toast is so good that it tasted heavenly even without the ice-cream or whipped cream!
The Mille Crepe is so soft and creamy that it melts in your mouth! It’s actually better than any of the Mille Crepes I’ve tasted in Singapore so far. The ones in Singapore were either too damp, or too rough. This is just right!
The weather was unusually hot in Bangkok in December due to the El Nino effect (Bangkok is usually cool from Dec-Feb), hence a cup of iced frappe helped to beat the heat!
Desserts must be made ‘just right’so that we don’t have to be stressed over weight gain, cavities or diabetes since everyone may already know that “Stressed is Desserts spelt backwards”.
